It’s the freakin’ weekend! Today I bring you one of my favorite outfits of the season from the sunniest part of the U.S. or maybe second sunniest if you consider the hot weather in Las Vegas. But seriously I gasped when I found this luxurious black velvet button-down behind the counter at Buffalo Exchange. Without hesitation, I immediately added the shirt to my pile of basics from the coolest vintage store of our time. Our as in the Millennial era, if you aren’t sure what I mean. I knew this button-down was going to get many uses and lots of love this year since Velvet is the latest trend of the season

I think the fashion angels sent this beautiful top from above because it’s a one of kind piece. Between you and I, I love Buffalo Exchange because of their selection of unique clothing. It is definite that you will not find the same piece of clothing and they have something for everyone’s type taste. I mean I saw a mini Rebecca Minkoff bag for goodness sake! I almost bought it until I took a look at my bank account. You know for impulse reasons because once I pick up one thing, I’m known to add three more items to the list of wants.
I remember reading a tip on how to style a monochrome outfit aka an outfit that is one color. You want to play with the detailing of your monochrome outfit. I wanted to bring out the silver metal details between the pieces by adding silver jewelry (similar here, here and here) to my look. You’ll definitely want to avoid mixing metals because it may clash with the overall aesthetic of your outfit.
When wearing a monochrome outfit you should also find pieces that are made using different fabric textures. Even though I wore a black skirt, the genuine suede plus chain detailing breaks up the black. Same thing goes for my choice in shoes (similar here). I wore these patent ankle boots with a silver heel from Nasty Gal. Thanks to blogger Lindsi Lane of So Lindsi, I was inspired to choose a fun timeless shoe that can be worn with any outfit.
Monochrome styling has been around for years and is the simplest form of staying fashionable. Everyone from Bella Hadid to Selena Gomez, is dabbing their toes in this chic trend and I predict it will maximize as we go further into the year. Below, you will find a few pieces that will inspire you to master the monochrome trend like a pro. And don’t forget to follow me on Bloglovin’ to be in the know of weekly posts!
